Heparosan polysaccharide

Heparosan is a bacterial glycosaminoglycan composed of regular repeats of 4-β-glucuronyl-(1-4)-α-N-acetylglucosaminyl-1 produced and found in the capsule of some pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli K5 and Pasteurella multocida.

The heparosan skeleton is a precursor of heparin synthesis, and bacterial heparosan itself can serve as a precursor for the synthesis of non-animal sourced heparin-like products.

Heparosan-derived oligosaccharides

Heparosan-derived oligosaccharides are produced by bacterial fermentation in engineered bacteria by Lyase degrading enzyme expression.

We offer a range of oligosaccharides from Dp 2 to Dp 10 (degree of polymerization).

General Formula : ΔGlcAβ(1-4)[GlcNAcα(1-4)GlcAβ(1-4)]nGlcNAc

Glucuronic acid GlcA is unsaturated at the non-reducing end of the oligosaccharides due to Lyase activity. The C4-C5 double bond absorbs strongly at 232 nm and can be used for monitoring the oligosaccharides in various separation system.
