Pisum sativum Lectin (PSA) linked to fluorescein - PEA

Pisum sativum Lectin (PSA) linked to fluorescein

Currency:

Product code: LEC519-FLUO

Sugar specificity: Mannose (Man) ; Glucose (Glc)

Sugar specificity: Mannose (Man) ; Glucose (Glc)

Additional specificity details: Methyl-α-mannose (MeαMan) ; core GlcNAc of N-linked glycopeptides with a Fuc linked α6.

Structure: Tetrameric lectin of 49 kDa

PSA has mitogenic activity and agglutinates human erythrocytes but is not blood group specific. The PSA lectin has a structure and specificity similar to Lens culinaris lectin (LcH) and is composed of 2 isolectins which are also closely similar. The X-rays structure of PSA – D-glucopyranoside complex was studied and shows that calcium is necessary for the binding. PSA displays specificity toward α-D-mannose and α-D-glucose but the core fucosylation on the C6 of the N-linked GlcNAc enhances the recognition. PSA lectin is a relevant reagent for the study of acrosome status of mammalian sperm.

Synonyms:PEA
