Structure: Homodimeric lectin composed of two identical subunits of 32 kDa linked by disulfide bonds
MAA was used in large range of research for the identification of complex sialic acid glycans. Moreover, due to it’s specific recognition pattern (α2,3), MAA-I was used to study the sialic acid linkage between α2,3 and α2,6 sialic acid linkages such as cancer.
