Jacalin is preferably used in applications to isolate IgA from human serum, isolating human plasma glycoproteins and for applications in histochemistry. But it has also been shown that Jacalin could be useful for targeted delivery of porphyrins to tumor tissues in photodynamic therapy, or that jacalin- stimulated macrophages can direct macrophages to an antitumor phenotype, highlighting potential therapeutic applications for Jacalin.
