Sialylated oligosaccharides

Elicityl offers a range of sialylated oligosaccharides based on core structure 1 and 2 of the ABO system. Some of them, like LSTa are part of the human milk oligosaccharides. Others are precursor of sialyl lewis oligosaccharides.

Sialic acids (N-acetylneuraminic acid) placed on the terminal end of oligosaccharides play a preponderant role in cell to cell communication. Sialylated oligosacchairdes are notoriously found in human milk where they act as a supplier in sialic acid as the infant cannot produce enough level of this monosaccharide (1).
