Galacturonan / Apiogalacturonan

Elicityl offers a range of galacturonan polysaccharides.

Galacturonan oligosaccharide, also known as pectin, is a major component of plant cell wall alongside rhamnogalacturonan. This polysaccharide structure is a linear chain of (α1-4)-linked galacturonic acids.  Galacturonan is notably found in apple and citrus.

Galacturonan oligosaccharides generated by hydrolysis (Acid or enzymatic) have displayed interesting properties:

- Induced responses in plant defences (1).

- Inhibition of cancer growth (2).

- Promotion of bifidobacteria in infant (3).
